Workshop Description: What happens when color does more than simply absorb light? In this lively virtual workshop, artist and educator Jeff Olson explores the creative possibilities of metallic, pearlescent, and specialty acrylic colors.

Using Amsterdam Standard Acrylics alongside Amsterdam Pearl & Metallic colors, Jeff will introduce the fascinating relationship between pigments and light, from traditional organic and inorganic colors to metallic reflection and shimmering interference effects. Through demonstrations and guided techniques, you’ll discover how specialty colors behave on different surfaces and how layering, contrast, and color combinations can dramatically change their appearance.

Whether you prefer a subtle shimmer or a bold metallic statement, this workshop will give you new ways to bring light, depth, and energy into your acrylic paintings. Designed for artists of all experience levels.

Jeff Olson Bio: Jeff Olson is a Seattle-based artist and educator whose career spans more than three decades of studio practice, exhibitions, and a deep engagement with the world of art materials. He currently serves as the Art Education Director for Royal Talens North America, traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada to share his expertise with universities, art organizations, and creative communities. Olson’s work and teaching both reflect his fascination with how technique, history, and material come together to spark artistic expression. His career bridges fine art and material science, offering a unique perspective that inspires artists at every level.
